Tilt or touch? Racing controls on mobile
Every racing game on your phone asks the same question up front: tilt or touch? We had a running argument in the office, so we ran the games back to back to see which actually wins.
Tilt feels immersive and, honestly, more fun on smooth arcade racers like Neon Drift Club. Leaning your whole phone into a corner has a physical thrill that buttons can't match. But it falls apart the second you're on a wobbly bus.
Touch is the reliable choice. It's less exciting but far more consistent, and for anything demanding precision it wins outright. Our compromise: tilt for fun, touch for scores.
If you've only ever used one, spend five minutes trying the other. Most of us had our minds changed at least a little.
